FTI Archival Solutions provide the most reliable long-term storage solution to preserve sensitive content, securely. FTI Archival line are available in Gold and Platinum solutions, which specify premium, high specification archival grade media that provides users with a safe, certified archival data storage solution for over 300 years on CD and 100 years on DVD.
FTI Archival Gold CD and DVD incorporate a 24K top gold layer as well as a silver reflective layer to ensure the best longevity and performance. The gold layer, known to be chemically stable against corrosion, protects the reflective layer from oxidation and thus maximizes environmental durability. The silver reflective layer ensures excellent read/write performance with lowest error rate as well as broad compatibility on major drives comparable to premium silver discs.
FTI Archival Platinum is a new FTI innovation that incorporates a special platinum-alloy reflective layer which guarantees excellent achivability and performance as good as the gold disc but at a more cost effective price point.
Gold and Platinum Archival solutions are available with proprietary scratch resistant technology, Ultra Hard Coat UHC™, for extended protection giving up to 100 times more resistant to scratches when compared to a standard disc surface. FTI Archival solutions comes with customizable disc label option with professional inkjet and thermal printable disc surfaces.
At FTI we ensure by storage testing under high temperature and high humidity conditions that written data can last for over 100 or over 300 years storage under office conditions for DVD-R or CD-R respectively. (add figures). These tests confirms that the selection of the materials like dye, polycarbonate, UV curable resins, silver etc as well as the fabrication procedures and controls are suitable for archival applications. FTI does not compromise on material and supplier selection for archival media. For example, we use high optical grade polycarbonate with the lowest contaminations in the industry and only original manufacturers for critical parts as dye and stampers.
Archival testing is destructive so discs that leave a manufacturer cannot be tested in climate chambers. The quality of archival products in any shipment, within a production lot, from lot to lot, from shipment to shipment etc. depends on the consistence of the operation, testing and quality inspection and grading of the manufacturer. This is true for any product but the implications for failure in archival products are more severe as any problem may surface only after several years.
